Holiday Club 2009 – Week 1

This week I was privileged to be one of  the facilitator’s of Impact Direct’s first ever Holiday Club program. The program was aimed at kids ranging from ages 4 years till 15 years old.

kids having fun on day 1

Wednesday, 16 December marked day 1 of the program, we were pleasantly surprised to see so many kids pitch up as we didn’t do much advertising. Nevertheless we were up to the challenge and the program manager, Bradley Naidoo kicked the day off by officially welcoming all the kids and immediately took them outside for the first activity. We continued throughout the day in that momentum and the kids together with facilitators had a ball of a time.

Day 2: the boys in the dining hall after lunch

Day 2 kicked off at 9am and promised to be a fun-filled day as the boys were looking forward to playing the much-anticipated mini soccer (Football) tournament. By lunchtime the boys needed to replace their spent energy playing soccer and were ready for lunch. After lunch we had a few more activities with the kids and by 2:30pm they were released to go home.

Kids at Cinema with their free popcorn, juice and sweets compliment of Nu Metro

Day 3 started earlier than usual at 8am as we had to make our way to Canal Walk, Century City as the kids were all blessed with complimentary movie tickets from Nu Metro. Upon arrival we were all surprised yet again  by the management of Nu Metro Canal Walk with free popcorn, juice and sweets for the kids. Needless to say the kids had a blast at the movies and for us as facilitators it was such a blessing to see these kids having so much fun knowing the situations some of them face at home daily.

I’m looking forward to the continuation of Holiday Club 2009 when day 4 kicks off after the Christmas break. Stay tuned as I share more as I am inspired from the balcony…
