Friday, October 22, marked the final day of #wtf10 media conference. There was a wide variety of topics covered ranging from “Musicians and Social Media” to “The role of social software in a learning environment”. One of the interesting talks on the day was “The rise of social media in politics”.
Some interesting case studies were presented by Beverley Schafer where social media was used to enhance political campaigns. It will be interesting to see how social media will change the South African political landscape and get the the public to partake in the voting process and actually go cast their votes.
There was also a definite spike in the number of tweets happening on the interwebs with the hashtag #wtf10. Below is a screenshot of some of the tweets.
Well done to the conference organizing committee for executing a great event and to Neotel for supplying free wi-fi connection. Looking forward to what you guys will come up with for next year.
