Office visit – Khoisan Chemicals

image

image

Khoisan Chemicals is a family run business with its office in Viking Park, Epping Industria.

The Legacy Legends had the awesome opportunity to visit a pure family run business. There is a saying that goes around and says:

don’t do business with family.

Today that statement was proven to be untrue. Today the Legends got to learn about the value of running a family business and got to witness how a business should run like a well oiled machine.

We also got to learn a little bit of history about the First Nation People of South Africa from Commisioner Henry Cornett of the Corporate House of the Khoisan People. Mr Cornett is also the head of this family run business. Commisioner Cornett says about his children:

They work with me in the business not for me.

Herrie’s Business Forum – A new wave of social entrepreneurs

image

Tonight is the re-launch of Herrie’s Business Forum. The name makes reference to ‘Herry Die (the) Strandloper’ a Khoisan trader who lived in the Cape at the time the Dutch settlers arrived on South African shores.

Herrie’s tribal name was “Autshimato” and he was well know for his bartering or trading skills. He was the first trader in the Western Cape and so It’s time for the first nation people to take up there responsibility and there rightfull place in all facets of life.

The purpose of tonights meeting is about empowering people to at least have some sort of business plan to submit.

One of the questions asked was: “Does your business address a social need?”  Watch this space for a new breed of Social Entrepreneurs.

I’m on a quest to Getsmarter

I am now into week 5 of my Internet Marketing course through getsmarter. Getsmarter is a high-touch online education company that works together with top universities and industry experts. I have to say that this is my first attempt at studying anything online.

The entire course is being offered online through the getsmarter website. Getsmarter offer a variety of courses online, read more here about courses on offer and dates. So I was wondering about my internet marketing course, it is only natural that the Internet Marketing course is offered online, right? Would it be ok to study Internet marketing offline lol? Just messing with your head. 🙂

On a serious note, I am into week 5 of my 10 week “Internet Marketing” course and it has been really good experience. I must say that I was very skeptical about studying through an online education company, but they have put my mind at ease with the way the course has been designed. I like to call it creative learning, I just love it! I look forward the next 5 weeks and will keep you updated with how things are going. 😉

Below is the course layout for the 10 weeks:

  • Module 1: Introduction to Internet Marketing
  • Module 2: Website Design and Marketing
  • Module 3: Online Copywriting and web PR
  • Module 4: Email Marketing
  • Module 5: Online Advertising
  • Module 6: Search Engine Optimisation
  • Module 7: Social media and viral marketing
  • Module 8: Web analytics and conversion optimisation
  • Module 9: Mobile marketing
  • Module 10: Internet marketing strategy

Celebrating Heritage Day

image

Today people around South Africa are celebrating Heritage Day. One of the few things South Fricans have in common is their love for gathering around a fire and braaing.

I am no different and I am spending the day with my family and friends at Wynberg Park. Pure bliss…

Kids free to play while parents relax and enjoy the day. Oh and the weather is perfect. Hello spring!
