Aslam Levy

Video Blogging, sometimes shortened to vlogging or vidding is gaining a huge following on the internet and was the hot topic of the night at the Reconstructed session. The session was well attended and the room was filled with excitement as everybody was waiting for Aslam Levy, one of the SA Blog Awards finalists to share his knowledge on the subject.

It was evident Aslam is passionate about seeing people lives being reconstructed and changed as he shared some interesting thoughts about how youtube can be used to give people a voice in communities on the Cape Flats. By the end of Aslam’s presentation the group knew what a youtube channel was and that vids on these channels can be pulled to and viewed on a blog.  Armed with all this new information the group were itching to jump in and get there favourite vids from youtube and embed them on The Reconstructed Blog.

SA Blog Awards

RLabs
Last night the RLabs team had the honour of being one of the finalists at theSouth African Blog Awards held at the One and Only Hotel in Cape Town. The event brought a wide range of bloggers, media personalities and other key people together to celebrate not just those who have been nominated as finalists but everyone who are making the online space a better place to be. So RLabs and one of its Start-ups She’s The Geek was nominated for awards that includedBest Group Blog (RLabs)Best Company Blog (RLabs) and Best Science and Technology Blog (She’s The Geek).

It came as a great surprise and much joy when we won all the awards we were nominated for and more so knowing that all the hard work and sacrifice by the people involved are finally being rewarded. These three awards we therefore dedicate to those in our communities who’ve decided to not let their circumstances silence their voices of hope. For the rest of the winners of the SA Blog Awards visit the list of winners here.
